3’s Classroom

This fun and energetic class is for children that are three by September 1st, and fully potty trained. This class focuses on developing important social skills in a developmentally appropriate academic setting. Children will be introduced to colors, shapes, number, and letters in a kinesthetic hands-on environment. Learning through play is essential for 3-year-old children. We offer play-based learning opportunities in our daily routine.

Meet The Teachers:

Assistant Director and Lead Teacher- Marla Hill
Assistant Director and Lead Teacher- Marla Hill

My name is Marla Hill and I am the Assistant Director of the Preschool at Christian Faith Center. I have been married to my husband, Ron, for thirteen years. We are like the Brady Bunch. He had three children, I had three children, and then we had one together. Our children range in age from eight to thirty-three years old. We have two son-in-law’s, and four grandchildren. We enjoy serving as the Children’s Pastors at the Christian Faith Center Caldwell campus.

I have my Associates Degree in Elementary Education from University of Phoenix, Nampa School District certification, certification from The National Institute for Learning Disabilities (NILD), certification from School of Innovation/Project Child, and a Certificate of Mentorship from Lee Pesky. I was an assistant teacher at OWL Charter Academy working with kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade with an emphasis in math. I had my own in-home daycare for four years as a single mom. My three children and I welcomed a sweet little boy from the Philippines into our home for a month to help him find a permanent home (which he did). I have worked in a daycare, volunteered in the church nursery, preschool, and kid’s church.  I have facilitated a Confident Kids group, a youth girl’s group, family home groups, and multiple ladies Bible study groups during the summer months. My husband and I have facilitated DivorceCare groups, as well as taught marriage and parenting classes. Additionally, I have been a camp counselor at the Southern Idaho District Kid’s Camp in years past. It is quite funny because I never intended on being a teacher, or having children for that matter, but God had other plans! I love being a teacher and a kid’s pastor! It brings me such joy to see them grow and learn! It is not only my desire to teach them academically, but I want to help lay the foundation for them to have a thriving, personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Lead Teacher- Elsa Custer
Lead Teacher- Elsa Custer

Hi! I’m Elsa Custer. I’m the Lead Teacher in the 3-year-old class as well as an Assistant Teacher for kindergarten. My husband and I have been married for thirteen years and have three young boys. We love anything that has to do with the outdoors; four wheeling, camping, hiking, bicycling, and swimming are just a few activities you’ll find us doing! We are also huge animal lovers.

I’m the daughter of Wycliffe Missionary’s and grew up in South Dakota where my father worked on translating the Bible for the Lakota Tribe.  Growing up, I often volunteered with Children Ministry at church too.

My youngest son graduated preschool with Mrs. Jenni a year and a half ago, which lead me to the Preschool at CFC. I volunteered weekly in her classrooms for two years and gleaned a lot from those experiences. I very much love and enjoy teaching little ones, and the fact that I also get to teach them about Jesus warms my heart!

Assistant Teacher- Vivian Scott
Assistant Teacher- Vivian Scott

My name is Vivian, and I am the AM Pre-Kindergarten Lead Teacher and 3’s Assistant Teacher. My husband and I have been together for 9 years. We have a daughter named Scarlett who attended The Preschool at Christian Faith Center for the 2021/2022 school year and will be attending again for kindergarten in the fall! We are a prior military family. I was a stay-at-home mom for 3 years and I homeschooled, and cared for, younger ones during that time. Prior to that, my love for helping others and teaching started at a young age in school. I was a teacher’s assistant, volunteered and taught Girls on the Run, worked with adults and kids with disabilities.  I went to college and became a Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Phlebotomist, and soon, I will be finishing an Associate of Applied Science in Law Enforcement.

In my spare time, you will find me mothering, cleaning the house (never ending), cooking, gardening, tending to our farm animals, spending time with my family, and exploring the mountains. I’m a fanatic of the outdoors and strive to encourage others to go outside!

I absolutely love teaching little ones and I pray that I can be the best teacher for them to excel in school and grow in God’s faith. I am excited to meet you all!

Assistant Teacher - Katelyn Kensley
Assistant Teacher - Katelyn Kensley

My name is Katelyn. I’m a mom of two children, Hudson who is five and Gracie who is almost three. God has called me to serve alongside my young kids. I serve on the Children’s Ministry Dream Team on Sunday mornings at Christian Faith Center as well. I have a servant’s heart, and it brings me joy to serve others! Before I had kids, I was an Assistant Manager in the cafeteria at Lowell Elementary School in Boise, and I worked there up until I had my second baby. I loved getting to know the children as they got their lunches for the day, and my favorite part was seeing their face light up when I knew their names. I can’t wait to help your children learn, play, and learn about Jesus here at The Preschool at CFC!
